hi there. im a current year 12 student and i really have to start thinking about my uni applications soon.

i am interested in sociology related subjects with a bit of psychology in there as well. heres my question. do you think b arts at at unsw would be right for me? and how many majors/minors am i able to choose?

i have the 'good universities guide' and it said that unsw isnt a very good uni to do b arts in sydney. do you agree with this?

well thank you in advanced for your help. i better go study for my trial hsc exams.

I dont think it makes any difference which uni you go to. Go to one which is convenient and which you prefer on a aesthetic basis, not on other peoples judgements.

! i went to the school just across the park from you :)

That's ridiculous! UNSW is a good uni! Although the sydney uni BA cut-off is higher which shows most peope would prefer that over unsw.

USYD has a wider choice of subjects for B Arts compared to unsw. I'm doing both psych and sociology at usyd. I'm really enjoying it.

nice choice! im doing sociology as well :)

I mite be a bit biased but i also think usyd has a greater variety of arts subjects. I'm pretty sure usyd has a pretty good psychology & sociology faculty as well. I think you'll also luv the historical arty vibe around usyd coz i certainly do.

About how many majors u can pick, i think u can fit in 2 majors and sum minors fairly comfortably in the arts degree.

edit-ignore wat i said aboutt variety

thanks everyone for your help!

yeah i agree, i would love love love to go to sydney uni. but im unsure what uai i am going to get. im pretty sure i will get over 75. maybe early 80's. but the cut off for syd is 83. so i was just looking around for other options just in case. it sucks that theres such a jump in numbers between the 70's and the 80's.

oh well i guess i'll just have to kick ass in the final exams. dammit.

thanks again, all the best. :)

USYDs got one of the worst psychology schools in NSW, look in other threads for the argument
