hey i have an assessment task for PDHPE and is on improving performance for cycling. it would be heaps heaps awesome if anyone could give me any points for the question.

"describe how coaches/athletes can improve performance in th sport of cycling through the use of technology. illustrate your answer with relevant examples"

i was thinking like the type of clothing they wear, style of bike, their training and there technique and stuff but i just can get any good info from the net and dont no where 2 start....any other info or suggestions i would appreciate

ok i dont do pe but here goes:

(all this is in reference to pro riders such as in the tour de france)

bikes - their normal bikes are carbon fibre. they weigh just over 7kgs and the CF makes them very stiff so they are more responsive. their time trial bikes allow them to get more aerodynamic by getting lower down. go on some websites of some of the big names in manufacturers such as trek, avanti, ridley and cervelo and check them out.

clothing - they wear very tight fitting clothing to reduce wind resistance and drag. in time trials they wear special (and funny looking) helmets that are more aerodynamic.

food and drink - eat lots of carbohydrates (both bars and energy gels) and drink anywhere between 3 and 8 litres of water/sports drinks on a stage
