Hi, I'm considering taking dance for the HSC. I've finished all my ballet grades and coordinate the school's dance groups. But I'm not sure whether I would enjoy the subject or just be bored. Also, some people have said that its very stressful with lots of 'pointless' work. What do you think?

From what i've seen with people in my grade, some don't do professional dance outside of school and they love it. It's a really small class, only about 6 or 7.

It'd probably be best to ask the dance teacher/s at school about what it is. With all your dance experience, i don't see why you shouldnt try it. Unless you didn't want to do it in uni or persue a dance career or wanted to do other subjects instead?

Being trained in Ballet helps with a lot of the strength work in Dance. I'm taking Dance for my HSC with no out of school dance training at all, but because I love dance, I'm enjoying it.

You must note that HSC Dance is very contemporary, that's why I like it.
It's not stressful if you learn how to balance your workload over the subjects.
YOu can always drop the subject and pick up something else on that same line, if you wanted to.
HSC dance makes you appreciate that dance is not 'bludgey'! Ah...
I must get on with my composition for my yearly.

Best of luck!
