The Democrats have chosen to give their Senate preferences to The Family First Party. This party is a far-right wing Christian Party who are extremely against same-sex marriages, support corporal punishment of children (i.e. the whip) and oppose abortions. I won't get into my vies on these policies but as a whole i reckon they're pretty conservative and anti-progressive if u ask me!

What do you reckon is wrong with this and do u think the Democrats will lose votes as a result of it?

In a word, yep.

Because Aussies in general are too laid-back to support such a stupid-ass fucked up party as that.

abbot and anderson liberal front benchers are oposed to same sex marriage and abortion...

the majority of the front bench of the liberal government could be characterised as right wing christians...

Abbot and anderson come to mind
*shrug* I have to deal with people like that every day. Doesn't divert me from my business (and it's not as if they're doing much to totally ban same-sex marraiges and abortion, are they?).

yes *shrug*...the family first party are 'fuckwits' because you dont like their policy...the front bench of the liberal party personally support their policy...but you love them...

hmmmm :\
There you go, making idiotic assumptions again.

I don't like the party (and why are you quoting 'fuckwits' when I did not actually say 'fuckwits'?) because of that policy.

The 'front bench of the liberal party', being two members (in your theory, I suppose) support SOME of the FFP's policy PERSONALLY but it's not in the Liberal policy, last time I checked.

Hmmmm, indeed.

It'd be nice if you afforded me the courtesy of spelling my name right; and yes, that is my gripe.

i'm just reminding you, so you dont get onto ur soapbox and tell us all how horrible it is that they banned them. good on them, IMHO. it might not be in line with the rule of law but it is in line with natural law right now.

Once again, pot calling kettle black!

Or have you forgotten what you said to me a few weeks ago?

And I see no 'personal insult' there. A critique on what you have to say, but no 'personal insult'.

Asquithian, do support this Family First party? Donesnt say in any of your posts that you do/dont.

Me, I don't think religion should be afflilated with politics and I also hate extremem left/right winged parties. So I'm definatley against this 'far-right wing Christian Party'

Agreed. Religion has no place in government.

Their policy (or non-policy) regarding religion doesn't colour my affiliation. It's everything else.

heh.
yes, that's politics.
they'll (they being all politicians) appeal to all demographics, religious groups, sporting teams, lobby groups, interest groups in an attempt to gain votes.
