as i say: value investing is the way to go for guaranteed money (i can attest to that)..but here is a passage i read in "the intelligent investor" by benjamin graham - a great book i recommend:

"the average doctor maybe more likely than the average widow to become an enterprising investor. He has one important handicap, however -the fact that he has less time available to give to his investment education and to the administration of his funds. In fact, medical men have been notoriously unsuccessful in their security dealings. The reason for this is that they usually have an ample confidence in their own intelligence and a strong desire to make a good return on their money, without the realization that to do so successfully requires both considerable attention to the matter and something of a professional approach to security values."

the lesson is: never rely on your income to determine how wealthy you are. in fact, a good way to determine wealth is multiply age with annual income (not including inheritance) and divide by 5. thats how much you should be worth.

just dont spend all you money like most medical men....aint that right inasero?

Medical Science is not Medicine, it is the study of technology and its applications to Medicine (or so they say).

In fact, it is actually a Bachelor of GAMSAT. MedSci is really three years of First Year Physics, Chemistry and Biology - a near assurance that you will at very least pass the GAMSAT examination.

Edit: Incidentally, not all universities award "MBBS". Newcastle gives the testamur "BMed" instead. The name isn't important, as long as people know what it means.

Hmm, some of those technical terms I don't follow. Is he suggesting that doctors generally aren't good managers of money? Or is he saying they don't have much time to spend it? lol...or both???

I know it's not the same, hence that's what I said. I was trying to draw an analogy for what PointDexter was saying,

chudy:

as in doctors arent good managers of money and they dont have time to properly educate themselves in this management...its a warning sign..

when you spend too much on products, somethings wrong with you money management skills - a problem with most of today's doctors..

perhaps, minai might be able explain my quoted passage :D

That'd be right-- but then again syllabi have changed since then! Hehe, my parents get their accountant to do most of their dirty work :D

The current courses in medicine train people on the management side, from what I've read in my course outlines.

My cousin is a doctor, anyway his hours aren't that bad. He works in ER, and had the option on being on call 24/7 + more money, but he decided not to because he still wants a life.

hehe...btw what does he "Specialise" in? Does he actually need to specialise in anything as such? Or can he deal with things like stabbings, accidents, etc. no matter where they are located?
