hey

how would you describe the structure of cellulose
WITHOUT drawing a diagram

straight? rigid? flips 180 every next chain?

any help would be great

Straight, every second monomer unit is inverted.

Here's a good way to start your explanation without using a diagram as you asked :p: "Cellulose is a long chain of glucose monomer units linked together..." this shows that you know what it's made of.

also talk about how it is formed when describing it....ie condensation polymerisation. how a water molecule is eliminated when glucose monomers are combined to make cellulose. a diagram of it would help, but i find it hard to remember how to draw cellulose.

You could say that cellulose is a condensation polymer formed when glucose monomer units combine with the exclusion of water a result of the condensation polymerisation process. According to neap, the C1 atom is linked to the C4 atom in the other monomer by a single oxygen molecule, once the polymer is formed. Whatever that means :p

cellulose-
it is made of Beta glucose monomer units joined in a straight chain by condensation polymerisation with the byproduct of water.
