I'm aspiring to take English Extension 2 next term. At first i had thought that basically all it was to write a story. However, upon reading Young Writers Showcase, the book that BoS publishes with all the 50/50 major works, i've realised that to do good in this subject, i have to in some way push boundaries. Just write a story isn't good enough.

So that brings me to my dilemma:

How exactly would i develop my ideas? How did you, fellow EE2 undertakers, develop your ideas? I'm writing a short story, i'm certain of that, but i'm not exactly sure to what standard, purely in terms of my ideas, should be to make me viable in this course.

So if you have done EE2, then some advice would be nice.

Thankyou.

I'll be a hero and help you out;

Develop your idea around something that you personally feel strongly about, some kind of issue you have dealt with, that remains or is in the world.
Mix up your use of tense, perspective and narration and distinctly characterise your characters.. to make it stand out and seem more original and "fresh".

Hope it's useful ;p
