What would be the major differences between the two degrees?

A Bachelor of Economics would allow you to take more subjects from the Business School.

Other than that, not much difference.

The economics units you do will be exactly the same. The BA will allow you to take more subjects from the Arts faculty (but none from the business school), while the BEc will allow you to take all subjects from the business school (but only 8 subjects from the Arts faculty). So depends where your interest lie.

Also that, and doing a Bachelor of Economics means you're not looked down upon by the rest of us econ kids
