there is a difference between some of the 1st yr subects. eg.
in commerce, in first yr, they study macro and micro economics as separate subjects whereas i dont think they do in bus. admin

at UOW the difference between BComm and BBA is that BBA has NO set major. It is more of a genralist degree where you do a wide range of commerce subjects, whereas BComm allows you to major in specific types of areas. eg. accounting, actuarial...etc.

thats the same with mq bba's... they are much more general and have no majors. as the name of the degree states, its suited for those who want to be apart of the admin of business.

BBA and Commerce are quite different.

* The BBA is the undergrad version of the prestigious MBA (my 3rd year unit is taught by a MGSM lecturer).

* Covers general commerce units: 2 accounting units, 2 finance units, 1 unit in stats, comp, marketing, econ.

* There are core units which are unique to the BBA (for e.g. human resouce management, communication skills, some psych ones, etc).

* If you are doing the straight BBA you do 2 modules as ForAGoodCause mentioned (a module is 4 units in a specific area). If you are combined then it is slightly different. For e.g. those doing it with law get don't do any modules.

my friend (doing BBA/Law, I'm doing Com/Law) summed it up best:

'in commerce you learn economics, in BBA we learn about economics'

the difference for us in first year is that he does 3 BBA subjects and I do 3 Econ subjects, and he does marketing and comp123 whereas I have to do maths and something else equally shithouse

if i fail econ110 this semester I want to switch to BBA

No, just Econ110. Econ111 is much much much more interesting, although people also claim it's hard. The pain of doing boring Economics.

I guess BBA103 is good cos you can get through with only learning a tiny bit of macro (which you can rote learn).

Let me just say - ECON111 > ECON110! (Which means I'll have to try much harder in ECON110 because I don't like it!)

No way ECON110 is heaps more interesting. You're the first person to say that ever i think. by the way commerce is harder and bus admin is easier work but harder to get into... to sum it up easily!

Used to be UAI wise.

Still a higher transfer GPA requirement: 2.5, rather than 2.0 for Commerce.

How is ECON110 interesting? All you do in lectures is sleep. And the content is repetitive and dull. ECON111 on the other hand had the much more interesting content but required more work and thinking.

agreed econ111 > econ110.

here is proof:

ECON110(one night cramming + livesaving essays) = P
ECON111(one night cramming + livesaving essays) = Cr

Since Cr > P {previously defined by "Rules and Regulations"}
ECON111>ECON110

QED?

thats stupid

(one night cramming + livesaving essays) = BIG FAT FAIL FOR BOTH!!

and econ110 is harder but more interesting, u learn topics like inflation, employment, exchange rates and banking. Stuff you hear about... Much more interesting than consumer and producer behaviour and factor markets :vcross:
