do we need to know what certain types of specific series in 4u topics such as complex numbers?? (it showed up in the textbook i'm using saying to prove identities with the given series, but i have never heard of the power series or the maclaurin series in my entire life)

pretty sure the only time you'd need to know about power series or maclaurin/taylor series is when proving that re^(ix) = r[cosx+isinx]. a power series is used to represent e to the power of ix as an infinite series of polynomials, and the maclaurin/taylor series do the same but represent sine and cosine using an infinite series of polynomials. this desmos link explains these series a bit - link
