Hey, just wondering if it would be hard to get a band 3 or 4 with a school based mark in the mid 30's...
And while im asking, Does getting a Band 2 count as a Pass? Cause that means the mark is above 50 right? So is that technically a pass?

I'm also interested in this. I suck at math. My marks can range anywhere from 85 - 55. (Which I believe is a <30 on the atarcalculator.)

wut.

You can get b3 easily, but b4 is difficult for you to get, as you would be quite low in rankings as well for your school for maths :S. If you absolutely rape the hsc exam, someone else from your cohort in maths will likely get your mark for the exam as they'll be higher ranked than you. But yeah, it's not impossible, just very improbable.

FYI,

Band 6 = 90 - 100 marks
Band 5 = 80 - 89 marks
Band 4 = 70 - 79 marks
Band 3 = 60 - 69 marks
Band 2 = 50 - 59 marks
Band 1 = 0 - 49 marks

General Maths is quite an unusual subject, in that, if you get 30%, you'd still get a Band 2. But as far as I'm aware, a Band 2 in General Maths is... still not really ideal. Nor is a Band 2 in any subject. To get a Band 1 though, you'd literally need to not attempt your paper, or get under 15%. A near pass mark of mid 40s (raw mark) should get you a low Band 3.

And I know this from talking to my mate who did General last year. He was nearly passing all year and still got a Band 3, or HSC mark of 62. :)

Oh. my. god.

Maths was my strong subject in year 7-10, but I barely did any study as I was over confident with it. My marks have dropped to 60-70. That will scaled down to what? 30? I HATE THIS SCALING BS

I'm curious to hear a prediction on the raw mark needed for band 5 in General? Thanks :)
