IMO...I would save up and invest in a decent camera as its one of those things that will stay with you for a while if you look after it....me, ive got an olympus 370 ultra zoom. One of the best things I have ever bought as the quality is amazing and the zoom.... *10+*4 digital....its good!!

i have a sony DSCP10, picture resolutions (very sharp) at even 1600-1200 pixels

as long as u dont zoom in /out like crazy it wont kill yr battery, but usually my canon lasts me for like 2-3hrs
