A new study of money has proven definitively that notes and coins are not nearly as dirty or germ-ridden as people think.
The trans-Tasman research found low levels of common bacteria on the currency traded through food outlets in Australia and New Zealand.
However, the presence of the bacteria was so insignificant it would be impossible for them to cause diarrhoea, vomiting or other gastrointestinal symptoms they're usually responsible for.
