So, its time for everyone to tell us thier concepts/themes.
Tell us what you are planning, and we can discuss and maybe even help you in your development of the concept and how you will display/carry it out.

I didnt do art last year because of a subject line conflict, but I was the official class helper (lol) I saw many concepts, and even develoed my own, a twisted version of the seven deadly sins, loosely based around the the film seven (starring brad whatshisname and that black guy denzil??)

Anyway, Ive seen lots of concepts and would love to hear yours this year.
We will disciss the pros and cons, originality and all that jazz.

So, lets hear it :)

Well, what's your point in wrapping things up? Like you can't just wrap things up for the sake of it.... you have to think about all the different ideas wrapping something up can mean.

For instance, one reason Christo and Jeanne-Claude wrap is to help people see an object in a new way. When an object is wrapped up in such a way, people start to really notice the shape and form of the object.... they start to look at it instead of just walking by it and seeing it as ordinary and unspecial. So in a sense, they are artists trying to help people become more aware of the environment around them.... to take more notice of things. So in this way, covering an object, and wrapping it tightly... actually let's people really 'see' the object more.

Other more obvious reasons for wrapping things up is the idea of trying to literally 'cover up' something.... to keep something secret, to hide it away. Then you have ideas like presents, packages, parcels, the post. And even more sinister things like suffocating and wrapping murder victims. I guess you could also make environmental connections to what a wasteful society we are, and how much unnecassary packaging is used in some places (like fast food outlets, for example.) There are lots of connections you could make, from the very obvious, to the very obscure.

Finding a 'concept' doesn't necessarily have to be a difficult task. You just need to really dedicate yourself to thinking about all the connotations a wrapped object makes.... all the things it brings to mind. And when you come up with something particularly interesting/intriguing, stick with it, ride with it.... and try and pull it to pieces as much as you can.

Think about your theme. Think about your object and subject matter. Think about your actual process itself.... and try and find the connections. :)

COLLAGE/ASSEMBLAGE

im in year 12 and currently studying art my concept is to use the elements of designs and principles (shape, size, colour) and use common objects to create a composition.
ive currently used, buttons, ribbons and materials and pencils to create 3 compositions and need 3 more great ideas to complete the others.
also i have no inspiration except for my practising with different materials, so if anyone knows an artist that used common objects to create a compostion would be helpful.

thank you

My concept is Ophelia from Hamlet
Madness and drowning portrayed through pre Raphaelite styled photography.
I guess it also has something to do with the disempowerment of women...

Hey Everyone,

My BOW is an appropriation on Picasso's Guernica. I've transformed the themes of war and brutality to women and their role within society. I look at conformity, the pressures of society and the media and stereotypes. I'm generally representing the restraints placed on women through clothing and my mediums are fabric and oil paints.

I hope that makes sense hehe.

HHHEEEYY! that concept sounds really cool, and thought out.

mine is a little bit more open........ok a lot more.

im doing the landscape of [australia] or the landscape around me, that i have grown up in... in an abstract came-out-of-my-head kindof way.

i dunno if the "concept" is really that strong. i suppose i would even say its more that the form of landscape suits my function of abstract interpretation............... yeah i like that.

To me your work sounds a lot like the nature vs. nurture debate in developmental theories. Is it the enviroment that shapes us or is it our biology?
Your concept sounds like your showing how the enviroment shapes you, which in turn shapes how you view your enviroment. An endless cycle.

Im loving all these ideas. Great to see so much deversity, can wait to see all of you post pics up (which you have to do, its an order :p )

Love is blind and to it, we're all adrogynous. Mostly snapshot-like photography to depict the beauty of the tangible nature of love.

Also known as: being bisexual rocks, the world's your oyster, and I heart sex/pornography? (One of my model-couples did end up having sex on my bed... twice... -__- stupid children. They're underage though, so I can't really use -those- photos in my BOW...)

I'm going off the music mainly, whatever it puts in my head i try to get down on paper, also lyrics and the personality of the musician, and anything related to them.. i draw portraits of them and then i draw things around it to try and express their music. you can check out my deviantART gallery, the incubus dj artwork is there and the mars volta one, i think i'll do another one of the mars volta because i didnt really express 'them' as well as i think i can.
