Re: Study Discussion

I fucked up my first maths assessment (got about 60 percent) , and now im scared. But hopefully ranking wont be dragged down since it was only worth 15% of the total assessment mark.

not exactly. My sister's friend got 99.85 and she went to a school ranked in the mid 400s. The rank of your school doesn't determine your HSC mark or your UAI.
i think he meant your internal ranks?
cos they certainly affect your marks (unless you topped everything lols)

True.
I ranked poorly in my internals when accelerating maths and I think that hurt me because my school did relatively poor this year compared to others.

That's probably an advantage of going to a selective school - but too late tying out now :(

^just top your school. That way, you won't be affected adversely by your poor grade.

It would hurt if you went to a badly ranked school, this is because if you are second, 3rd or even in the top 5, because other candidates will do poorly, they will pull your marks down.

True, but if you're 1st your school has no actual effect on your marks at all.

It is possible

i used to go to a school ranked in the 400's and came almost top in all subjects with barely any study in yr 9-10
and plus the class size tend to be pretty small with class size up to 13 or less for subjects like chem, phys
Also ME2 tend to have 1-2 ppl every yr too XD

as long as you don't have a fierce competitor (usually a smart fob, lol) , 1st ranking is all yours.
