Have you learnt any technical analysis in your finance major and if so, what did you learn?

Just a quick question for people who have finished a finance major....

I was taught one course including TA strategy. The treatment of TA was limited to those strategies which have been statistically proven to lose money after adjusting for transaction costs.

An overwhelming proportion of academics will tow the party line and throw mud at tech analysis. An overwhelming proportion of academics have never seen a trading floor either.

Finance departments needs to hire mathematical physicists to show that technical analysis is consistent with modern finance theory:

If someone can explain to me the mathematics (not the physics!) behind this paper, that would be great.
