If I count the bonus points for all my subjects for the course I want I get 7 points but then are we only allowed 5?

The amount of bonus points and the criteria at which you receive bonus points (and hence the limit of bonus pts) you get are dependent on the university that you attend and the bonus points system that you have.
For my particular course at UNSW I was eligible for 6 BP however they capped everyones BP to 5.
