related to the crash in melb with 5 dead teens

do you actually care?

i dont mind breaking the law when it is obviously retarded, but when you drink drive and speed, knowing the risks, why should we care if you end up killing yourself?

the 5 passengers are just as culpable for staying in the car with a drunk speeding driver

question applies to all risky behaviour when the risks of harm are generally well known

such as drink driving, playing with guns, drugs etc

The only issue I have with road safety is that if you act dangerously you're not just putting yourself at risk. Pedestrians, young passengers, people in other cars...

But yeah if you're only putting yourself at risk, do what you like. Take drugs, ride without a helmet, give birth at home, get really fat, etc.

if they know full well of the consequences that come about as a result of partaking in risky behaviour, why should we? so as long as they're only putting themselves at risk i guess

I might miss them when and if they don't make it but I don't think we can start legislating against base jumpers or things like that.

"No! You shall not do that! I am the vicitim of this crime, not you." = lol

If you die base jumping or motor racing, I feel sorry for you but in a sport like base jumping its a quite likely occurance. If your behaviour is exceedingly risky and you die, thats your hard luck

Yeah but i think that is different, thats obviously just criminal negligence, endangering other people

It becomes an issue if they endanger the lives of others whilst engaging in such an activity, in which case I'd probably "care" enough to do something about it (i.e. talk to them)

But if they do it to themselves and risk their own life, I'll pretty think "what an idiot" and move on.

i just dont understand the bleeding hearts "omg this is so tragic" "what a waste" etc

how is it a waste? they made the choice to risk their lives to go 140km/h (lol), knowing there was an increased risk that they would die. its not a waste because that was what they chose to do with their lives lol fuck

no no i realise that if they are doing the risky actions and endangering other people, that is wrong

but what i mean is, why do we care if they die while doing it
unless they are a close friend or relative

The crash is probably a good thing for the environment and far from "a waste".

Except for the poor tree that they murdered >:[

i suspect that the car and 5 people being removed from the earth is more of a benefit than the loss of 1 tree.

maybe i am wrong but 5 people and a car have a pretty big environmental footprint
