In our year, there r people doing physics who only do 2U Adv Maths. The Physics course is not as maths based as 1 might expect

Does it mean..3U maths??
No.
You are mistaking it for real physics at university.
Assumed knowledge Year 10 science.
But of course HSC builds on SC.

Just be aware that chem is a lot of memorising work, where phys is more 'applied knowledge'. You should be competent at maths, for phys, i.e. the equations.

But doing like... 3u maths does help with understanding on a more general scale. And there are lots of crossovers between Chem and Phys, which is always handy and interesting.
A few.
But the equation for heat transfer ΔQ = mcΔT suits physics more.
