This course has been quite a letdown for me. There's too much crap like ergonomics and social issues instead of real coding. If I knew that at the start I would have chosen engineering.
This is mentioned year to year, but Software Design and Development is akin to software engineering - where the focus of the course is on the design - methods of design and development, and how to manage the development of software, not so much the development itself.
The depth of SDD is not great, but then in the big picture, neither are any of the HSC courses.
hopelesFly, I have thought about dropping it but I plan to do so only when it is inhibiting my study for my other subjects and that is far from how it is now.
Sunny, that is what I would have like to have heard at the start of the course, my teacher told me it was 50% theory and 50% practical, that soo has not been the case, I havent touched a computer at school in 6 months and not one assessment has been on my coding.
lol compared to a subject like maths, sdd is very much a bludge subject.
There's not much class-work but the exams and assessments are a lot harder than other subjects i reckon. The teacher devised a time slot on our sdd lessons to work on assessment tasks and self-preparation for exams.
in order for you to get a band 6 you need to know your software skills in algorithms, i cant stress that enough but the exams are having less algorithms which gives me the shit since im the very few who are good at them
