What difference does it make to the dead, the orphans, and the homeless, whether the mad destruction is wrought under the name of totalitarianism or the holy name of liberty and democracy?

Your point being? by the way, the destruction of a totalatarian government is on going, this war's destruction is only short-term.. hopefully.

1. My point is that war is futile, no matter which supposed ideologies are behind its execution.

2. Short-term... hopefully. *cough* Vietnam *cough*

War is by its very nature the best means of resolving disputes. More situations can be resolved by force than by words.
This is an unfortunate fact about humanity.

I sure hope that comment was sarcastic, otherwise id feel stupid replying to its idiocy.
But erm, WWI, WWII, Vietnam, Korea... what exactly did they resolve?

The war was initially about WMD's right? So when it was obvious that there were no WMD's the U.S government gradually shifted the justification for the war to how evil saddam is. Dont get me wrong, I hate saddam and I'm very happy to see him go, but this argument that 'saddam was bad and he had to go' is flawed by the fact that the examples the U.S gave of his regime happend a long time ago when he had the support of the U.S. So shifting reasons for a war during a war is just plain stupid.

have you actually read the outline for why america said it was going to war? there were many reasons, including getting rid of a despotic regime.
