What the title says, since I am thinking of taking this degree next year, most likely at UNSW if I get in.

Also, if I fail to get in to study masters after completing the 4 year undergraduate degree does that still mean I can get a job in psych or am I cooked since I looked around online and apparently if you don't do masters you can't become a registered psychologist and are only limited to entry-level roles (e.g research assistant or case manager etc etc.) & I've also heard that getting into psych at unsw is really hard, not to mention that its even harder to get into the masters of psychology further down the line.

I have no idea what other degrees I wanna do so I'm kinda stuck if this doesn't rlly work out for me.

I thought honours is enough to be a register psych. But from what ive heard it doesnt have good career prospects cause a lot of people ik or mutuals either are struggling to find a job or switched to smth else like doing a masters in teaching for eg

You need to do a master's — without it you cannot become a registered psychologist, which makes the degree a pretty rough deal considering only about 1 in 10 people actually get a spot in the master's program.

Speaking from experience and what I've heard from first year psych friends at UNSW, it isn't worth it and most of them are transferring out. The overall environment, social life and career prospects all sound pretty dim. That said, if you're really passionate about becoming a psychologist and are prepared to study for 6-7+ years, you should look into the different pathways available.

One thing worth knowing: the first 3 years of core classes for Psychology (Honours) are shared with students doing Psychological Science (80 ATAR entry), so your tutorials won't necessarily be with people who are as academically driven, which can affect the quality of discussion and your overall experience.

ok after hearing this and doing a little more research im feeling pretty discouraged about doing this degree now
Are there any other degrees out there that someone who likes english would enjoy that are more employable and easier to get a job in after doing only an undergrad degree

unfortunately work force disfavours those who want to pursue more humanities or social science based degrees so ur margin is quite thin

but as always ur better off doing something you are good at anyways so goodluck on finding one that suits u

I was thinking law originally but after I found out you have to participate in class discussions and its worth around 10-20% of ur grade I've decided it's not my thing since I can't really handle expressing my ideas/opinions in front of a lot of people.
