Hi,

Could someone out there please tell me how the School Certificate is marked, is it true that its your "raw mark divide it by 2 and then plus 50". Because i've heard many people say that before.

Thanks

No, not raw mark divided by two, but percentile, or else it'd be near impossible for people to get 100.

Right?
What do you mean percentile? Give me an example please.

Unless they get 100 raw?

Percentile is basically a rank. Read your competition result sheets, that's what they use. For example, if you're at the xth percentile, it means that x% of your cohort is doing about the same as you or worse than you.

Where the hell do you guys hear these things from? Such speculation never happened in my grade when we did the School Certificate.
Apparently, it's just marked in a similar manner to the HSC. You get a raw mark and it is aligned according to performance band descriptors. I know for a fact that they certainly do not add 50 to your raw mark. If that were true then the minimum mark you can possibly get is a 50. That doesn't explain how at LEAST 1% of the state get below 50 for each course.
