All of today I've been trying to remember, googling the name of this novel but to no avail, so I was asking if anyone knew it.
It's about this young girl who goes to ballet school, has a disjointed relationship with her mother. They don't like each other, I think her father died when she was young.
During ballet academy she befriends this other girl who I think becomes ill? She ends up in hospital somehow, not sure why.
The main character grows up and then she has a crazy idea to run away to India or Nepal? She convinces her sick friend to come who brings along another patient.
So the three of them set off to India where they buy this old colonial house in a remote place and transform it into their home, they start cooking for all the poor people and eventually it becomes a meals-on-wheels thing where hundreds of poor people line up to be fed.
Any help would be very very much appreciated!
I know the storyline, just can't find the title
