does the word limit include the reflection statement? (1 Viewer)

my friend told me that the word limit for short stories is 6000-8000 but he said that this doesnt include the reflection statement. So is he right in saying that the story alone has a limit of 6000-8000?(not including reflection statement)

That's right. Some of the other media (eg poetry) have the reflection statement included within the word limit, but not short stories. Our limit is

6000-8000 for short story
1500 for reflection statement (thereabouts-- I'm remembering here, so I might be a little off)

yep that's right.

But in each you can go 10% over or under... better if you don't, but you won't be penalised if you do.
