induction motor

i think i have trouble with this coz i never did any experiments... and it doesnt look like we will

and

This was a question in my trial last year, here's the marking scheme. Note that the point says the principle, so any experiment that demonstrates induction or the motor effect will do.

Gather process and analyse information to identify some of the energy transfers and transformations involving the conversion of electrical energy into more useful forms in the home and industry
There is a section in Jacaranda that covers this quite thoroughly with specific NSW examples. It's essentially a question about transformers and rectifiers, show how these are used in home and industry. A quick brainstorm is enough to provide examples of items around the house or say in a factory that might need specialised power supplies.

Perform an investigation AC induction motor.......

All you need to know is how the AC induction motor works, and then fudge your way thru the answer...
We actually had a prac test on this; we spun a magnet horizontally over a piece of aluminium balanced on a compass point, and the magnet induced currents in the foil, so the foil started to spin... dada! ac induction!
