Mmm for my y10 formal I wore a really long white dress with silver beads. So many people wore dark colours - black, navy blue, dark red...

I might do white again for year twelve...I certainly wouldn't do black, as my hair is long and black, and tends to blend in and look shorter than it actually is...might do white again, because of the way it brings out the tone difference, and it really does stand out. We'll see.

But meh, 18+ months to think about it...**doesn't care**

Last year at my schools Yr 12 formal the trend was cocktail dresses, and nearly every girl wore one! :uhhuh:
What' the craze this year? Cocktail again? Or individuality?

I'll be individual! :uhhuh: Yay, all this talk of formals makes me excited! I cannot wait till mine at the end of the year! I love dressing up! :uhhuh:
I love dressing up too:)
I'm not sure what the craze is this yr for formal dresses.
There are heaps of nice dresses/styles around both long and cocktail.
People at my formal wore a mix, though alot wore cocktail.
Buy what you like and feel comfortable in :)

in year ten I had dark green with black tulle... I think this year I will have either dark red or pink maybe... I'm actually really tempted to just make Baby's dress that she wears at the end of Dirty Dancing but I don't really want to look like i'm wearing a costume to my formal

and the other thing guys... i'm thinking elbow length white gloves. maybe the fingerless ones, like no finger dividers, just a thumb one. like fingerless mittens. they were very hot in the fifties. it'd go with my dress, which is very carrie bradshaw.

I did my debutantes ball last year and I had to wear elbow length white gloves (with fingers). They were frustrating because they were just above my elbow so they kept scrunching at my elbow and feeling uncomfortable. They looked gorgeous though :D

YAY! red =) you would look lovely in red. Anyone would look lovely in red. Red is so nice. See, the mere fact that you're getting a red dress instead of a pink dress means Red is better then pink. Yeah. Red dress =)

people still do debutantes balls? weird... was it for school or what?
Yeah people still do them.
Alot of communities (country communities especially or ethnic communities) hold them. I also know locally they have select people from schools who do it (as in Vice/School Captains etc). But mine was with my school. I really enjoyed it :) I felt like such a lady :D

Wear something that moderately resembles lingerie. You can't go wrong with satin and lace.

And unless you're really into it, DONT go looking like a Harts ad.

Here's a photo of me in my dress.

I'm dancing with my dad :D

Anyways it's possibly one of the most unflattering photos but there I am, looking like I'm getting married....
