I just tried playing The Sims on Win 98 (yes, i know ancient) but am soon upgrading to XP

Anyway...
my graphics are totally crap and a friend suggested that i need a Video Card Driver, i've got a driver CD next to me but it isnt working (maybe he gave me the wrong one?- Drivers Ver: 7.84) and my graphics are still crappy.. :(

So do you suggest trying a different CD? - or is that my only option?

And im sure you can all see by now my computer skills are very limited :D

I think your friend meant that you need a new video card. It is a completely new card, not just the driver (software which directs the hardware).

If you have a computer running Windows 98, I don't think that a new set of drivers will improve your gaming experience all that much. Try lowering the settings, detail and resolution (it will be in the Game Options).

I don't think your friend would have said "try to upgrade your video card drivers alone" to improve gameplay - if you're upgrading to Windows XP, I do recommend that a new video card (graphics card) purchase be on the tables. :)

perfections, we can't exatcly help you yet until u tell us the brand of the video card!

1) right click on the desktop

2) click "properties"

3) on the display thingo that comes up, click on the last tab "settings"

4) on that screen, you should see an "advanced" button. Click on that and then tell us the brand of the video card!

that should be easier! :)

I think a better solution would be to get into Control Panel, System, locate the Device Manager which is generally in the Hardware tab and expand the Display Adapter(s).

You'll find your current Video Card listed, but your method works too PM. :)

I wanted to say that... but I just thought my method would be more straight forward...

alternatively, u could have right clicked on "my computer" and clicked on "properties".

u get to the same place with what Huy has just said.... but faster..

looking at it.. its dated back to 2000... bit old there!

~Perfection if ur looking to get better graphics in that game of yours, I suggest a new graphics card! u can get all the drivers in the world for that card, but nothing beats a newly done VGA card for games like "The Sims"!
