I need help with my DSS Essay part of my IPT assessment due this Wednesday.
Expert systems are a computerised advisory application that attempts to imitate the reasoning of experts. Below are four examples of real-life Decision support expert system.
-AIRPLAN assists air operation officers to launch and recover aircraft.
-CARGuide was designed to help drivers find their way around city streets.
-FOLIO helps share market portfolio managers determine the best share investment.
-MYCIN assists doctors in the selection of antibiotic medicines.
Part A (500 word limit)
For one of the above DSS (or a DSS of your own choice), submit a report about the application. Research and address the following issues.
-Describe the function on the DSS (expand on list above).
-What type of user is the DSS aimed at (expand on list above).
-Explain how the DSS works.
-List the strengths and weaknesses of the DSS.
-What social and ethical issues are raised by the use of the DSS.
-Include information about the authors, cost and licensing agreements available.
Part B (500 word limit)
For the DSS selected in Par A, discuss the following question:
“Should a computerised expert system take over the work of human experts?”
The biggest problem right now is not that I don’t understand the question but that I haven’t got a DSS to discuss. I was thinking of doing FOLIO on the list but found nothing. The other problem is time, I still have quite some parts of my project part to do so I was thinking if someone could make and send me a draft of the above or anything take with make it much easier for me to complete the essays.
