is that scholarship a full scholarship? i mean if its as people say, and 19K or so, surely it just means parents get a discount, surely it doesnt exempt from paying?

Err... how about 50? By definition?
theoretical definition you mean. in theory 10% get 90+ UAI, but in practice about 15% do (someone im sure has the actual figures, either way its more than 10%).

Yeah I'd find it hard to believe that that many people get below 50. But then UAI's are only disclosed to students (right?) and lots of people don't actually try, and get 0-30 and ignore it. So who knows.

I'm pretty sure Grammar has some full scholarships. It's a huge sum, over six years. My old school did, and the fees I would've saved (if I stayed) would've been over 80k, and that was based on fees five years ago. And they increase them at the smallest excuse.

there are still a lot of people who get less than 50. its just less than half the state as opposed to exactly half the state

Yeah, they account for drop outs etc when they create UAIs so median (For Yr 12 leaver) is 66, following on it would seem that some 30% of people get below 50

etc... every year theres at least one 100. Last year over 40 people (Around a quarter of the year) got over 99...pretty insane. Sydney Grammar btw.

over 40 people???

hmmmm.... my school has 120 people per year also, but had 23 girls get over 99 - roughly one sixth of the year, and we came second in the state

(Sydney Grammer was a bit lower down on the ranking, like 6th or 7th?)

odd.

edit: though now i think about it, perhaps we just did better on average? whereas Grammar had a bigger range of marks or something?

so how many people in the state would get over 99? coz 99+s are sprouting up everywhere by the dozens...

Only because a lot of BOS members go to selective and private schools and are usually pretty committed to their school work so it is really an unfair representation of the state.

But the people that usually repond to these threads like to brag/show off whatever and are usually as this thread has shown selective and private schools.

I very much know that there are heaps of public school kids out there but these threads on a whole attract selective and private school kids no debating that fact.
