We talked about this a while ago here. The manual or documentation with your burner should specify what you can and cannot burn. Best guess is that it would burn +R and -R like almost all newer burners.

Merry Christmas =)

From what i know

+R is new[er].
+R is more suitable for DVD Movie backups.
+R was/is traditionally more expensive than -R

-R is better for a mix bag of data. (Music/pictures/files etc)
-R plays "louder" in terms of spinning in the drive of your DVD.

I thought since -R is older, it's compatible on more DVD players and hence better for making movies.

Well, techincally, the newer the technoology, the more backwards compatiable it would be. :S

In this case...no...DVD-R appears to have better compatibility with standalone DVD players.

And I'm not sure how the format of the disc could actually cause the spinning to be louder...this would a physical property that should vary from disc to disc, regardless of whether its + or - R.

Thats what i thought, but the spinning depends on the format of the DVD in terms of reading/accessing data, not the physcial feature, which would obviously be vitually none.

Are you referring to CLV and CAV access?
