Something didnt make sense to make sense to me and im not sure how to explain it.

New evidence such a the discovery of sea floor spreading, and the fact that convection in the asenosphere(upper mantle) cause continental drift. In the old continetal drift theory, it's though that continets drift apart because of the Earth's rotation forces. The continental drift theory is modified because we have better understanding of the earth's crust movements and we have found new evidence for continental drift. Thus the theory is modified.

Bottom line- Continents did drift apart, this is part of the continental drift theory. But we have found evidence why the continent drifts apart, and the old theory needs to be changed.
