Can someone tell me more about EAC? Heard that it benefits when it comes to university course selection. Just curious what it is.

By the way, is this the right place to post this thread?

EDIT: IT WAS EAS (Educational Access Scheme) not EAC, my mistake

Re: Eac?

I tihnk you have to be seriously disadvantaged during your hsc year to receive the benefits of EAS. This could include: close family members passing away, serious injury preventing you to go to school, etc.

Re: Eac?

The Educational Assistance Scheme is a scheme at most uni's that you apply for through UAC which uni's take into consideration the disadvantages in their guidelines that you may have had during yr 11 or 12. EAS however does not apply to medicine at most universities and some other courses. If you think this maybe relevant to you speak to your careers advisor, head teacher, etc.

Are you prioritised if you receive UAI that is considered "low"? Because regardless of what I get, I would like to receive this benefit just to broaden my options in university courses.

No you don't get EAS just because your UAI is 'low'. You need to actually qualify for it (and not everyone who applies does get it). Also the whole concept of what is a 'low' uai is very individual....

You might like to check out some of the universities schemes related to entrance such as HSC Plus from UNSW, UTS HSC Bonus Scheme etc. See this thread for more info.
Thanks and my last question: "Then, you can still qualify for it even if you get UAI of over 99, right?"

EAS is done before the HSC exams, so regardless of what you get the university will consider your EAS applicaiton if your uai is below the cut-off(EAS does not apply to all courses though). EAS are not bonus points from UAC, EAS is taken into account by universities individually to ascertain if they should be allowed entry if you have missed out.
