Economics major in a BA/B Soc Sci? *lost* (1 Viewer)

I've heard you can do an economics major in a BA or B Soc Sci, because Economics is technically called a "social sci"...I'm assuming this is correct right?

What I want to ask though is whether you will be eligible (If I were to obtain the marks neccessary) for honours in Economics if you did Economics this way, rather than doing it through B Com or B Eco.

Currently I'm undecided between doing Com/Law or Com/Soc Sci. My interests probably lies in Law and Economics foremost, though I also like Social Sci and Political Econ (Though I'm aware that UNSW's politcial econ is farily new..). I'm hoping for answer to my question because if it is possible, I might do Arts (Political Econ and Economics)/Law or Social Science (Social Sci and Econ)/Law...hence letting me do all the areas I want and not being forced to choose between the two.

On another note, (more related to B Com): The honours year for the major Business Econ requires students to do a course that has Mirco/Marco Econ 2 as a prequesite, however the majpr itself doesn't need students to do it. I'm assuming you have to do it to be eligible correct?

I understand it is thinking a bit wayyyy too forward especially when I'm not even in the Uni yet, but any replies will be appreciated.

Have you considered Usyd's Com/Law?
I would've thought their commerce degree had more flexibility toward political economy/government majors.

Your combination wont really work for UNSW if you do Arts/Law, as combined law only lets you do one major from your other degree. So I guess its either Economics or Political Economy, unless you double in Com/Arts

As for your 2nd question, yes, even though the major doesnt require it, you'll need to do those subjects, and you're degree will be a BEc (Hons) LLB rather than a BCom (as you automatically transfer to BEc if you do Economics honours
