just the usual stuff about reduction of trade etc
if its in an essay then link with methods and pro/con of protection.
the Dixon book has a bit about it

Dixon or Excel should cover this sufficiently
some key points to remember are the negative effects (which are more economically important) including the loss of efficiency in domestic firms due to lack of productivity by workers. More specific to the question, global trade will be much more restrictive and more expensive for exporters, creating disincentive to trade, and therefore a massive loss in economic surplus for the entire world, due to the reduced role of comparative advantage

Thanks Minai,

yeah the problem is I've got Riley and Bulmer, they're decent textbooks but they do sometimes take shortcuts on certain issues

But if anyone could list out a few more effects, it would be much appreciated...
Thanks

Riley? Not that I really look in my textbook cos my teacher is a great believer in photocopied sheets...but isnt there enough reasons in Chapter Two near the beginning?
