Alright boys, girls, here's a challenge for you.

My teacher gave me a slit of paper with just the essay question on it without a criteria. The question is:

"Asses the efficiency and effectiveness of the jury system in achieving justice"

I would like to know, how I'd go about it. I figure I'd need a few cases to back me up too so that's gonna be extra hard.

Came across this a few hours ago, might be fairly useful. Even though it touches more on the potential role of judges, might be worth a look.

Rethink suggested for jury trials
Thanks man, i think i can use that.

Im pretty stuck here acutally cos i need some sort of criteria on what to write about :S

what criteria does the actually Jury system need to fullfill to be considered effective?

if i can get a few points on that, i might just have those main things in my essay and few cases or articles to back me up.

u need to make sure u cover all the forms of effectiveness
ie
effectiveness for the individual, and effectiveness for society
it should be in the HSC syllabus
question is very broad and i think canbe easily answered if u use the syllabus as a structure

most likely to achieve justice the outcome needs to be:
e.g.
resource efficent - not waste taxpayers money, not waste time
jury isnt being unethical - sudoku jury
majority verdicts etc
