i have.. no clue how to do a ebnf diagram, or how they actually work..
if anyone could explain, or point me to somewhere that does (preferably with an example) i'd love you.

Yeah lol same... hopefully in your HSC you will just get a couple of multiple choice on it... rather than a specific question, otherwise u gotta remember how to write the syntax...

EBNF is fairly logical.
If you have good logic, you can do this very easily

Yep... but it's pretty harsh on getting it mixed up with BNF itself, because they have alot of similarities, i remember EBNF has the ability for repitition.

Back on topic, if you're intending to read up about EBNF also take a look at railroad diagrams because they closely link, and on a handy tip, no need to over stress, in general question asking, they never ask it in extended responses, it's generally either ONE BNF/EBNF ques or Railroad diagram question in the multiple choice, i've never much seen them ask you to construct EBNF syntax in questions, rarely, but you never know offcial BOS might be cruel enough to differ it this year.

bnf/ebnf/railroad diagrams are used to describe program syntax and not algorithms so i am not sure how you can describe your algorithm using one of these three techniques.

however, while bnf/ebnf/railroad diagrams have not been examined as an extended response question in an sdd hsc, they have been in the old three unit computing course. check out the computing studies 3 unit paper, 2000 (page 16-19) for an example. the question is deceptively easy. it may also help you to do your assignment.

you can get the 3u paper at this link, http://www.boardofstudies.nsw.edu.au/hsc_exams/hsc2000exams/index.html
