Hi guys,

I was wanting to start doing my maths summaries electronically...but I don't know what maths or graphing software to use. What kind of software does the BOS use? Any suggestions on what kind of software (free, obviously) I should use?

Many thanks :wavey:

I use graphmatica, it's free, and pretty good, just google it.
But I question your decision to write up maths notes on the computer, by hand is so much simpler for maths.
But anywho, also have a look at http://www.wolframalpha.com/, if you haven't looked at it before.

Yeah...I dunno I've been writing them out for the past few years and its been good - but I just wanted to try electronic summaries - no harm done, though.

Thanks!

Use latex for maths summaries if you are doing so electronically. Just search and download miktex which contains packages you need and find a latex editor of your choice. Use google/wiki to learn latex.

For graphing, use what mitchy_boy suggested.

Hmm...can I be bothered with LATEX? How long does it take to learn?

If you are going to complete an electronic summary, dont bother with latex, just use the equations editor in MS word. Its easy and doesnt require tags and the like.

maple's pretty good... just a bit complex with learning the hang of it. But once you get it, it's pretty easy...
