I've been trying to look for a part-time job for the holidays after we finish the HSC, and i can't find any for students with no previous work experience! I don't want to work in Maccas or retail anything, i want something that would suit the career i am aiming for. That's something in business/office/finance. Problem is, i have no experience! i've never had a job. Is there some website i can search to look for jobs to fit my "experience"? :(

It's actually not that hard to find part-time business work. I joined an agency after HSC and basically I did an office test (wpm, word, excel, publisher) when I first came in. After that they just call me when offices need people to fill in spots. Not totally reliable, but eh. Plus, I never had any experience.

Ian's right. Nothing wrong with working at Coles :) Plus, it's valuable experience.

if anyone lives in sydney, you could work at the adidas international tennis at homebush during january. it runs for one week and has pretty good pay.. i think i got paid 8.90 (when i was 16) and 12 something for the weekend.. ;)

it's a catering job, just selling food and sometimes selling ice creams in the arena and watching free games.. good fun.. :D

A good thing to do would be to ask if you can do some work experience at a business for a week or so... government is always good for that, and sometimes they will ask you back after your work experience to do some paid work. I did that at the ACT Dept. of Education and Community Services, got asked to work for 4 weeks and earnt $5000 for those 4 weeks :D

But even if you don't get asked back you'll still have the experience of working in an office. The real problem is that most employers in this sort of field want full time, trained staff so they don't have to pay to train someone that they take on, and don't have to go through the whole process of finding someone again after 2 or 3 months.

As Ian said, there's nothing wrong with a job at a place like Coles, or in my case at Oporto. Just remember that any experience is still experience. If you can hold down a job for any reasonable length of time, then future employers will know that your committed to working as well.

Hopefully most of that makes sense, if not, sorry but it is 2am after all hehehe

Hay Roo, you serious? I go to the Adidas International all the bloody time - waste a crap-load of money too, perhaps I could make some back. How'd you go about getting a job there?

Well honestly beggers cant be choosers, so just settle for anythin like a Coles shelf stacker and get paid experience. THEN go and get ur office job. Nice try if u dont have expereince and wanna get paid.
