I reckon there's basically no reason to do standard. If you're serious about getting a decent UAI (98+), the band 5 cap (in reality) for standard is gonna hurt you. I mean, you'd have to be at the very top of Standard to get a band 5/6, in which case you've probably got the ability to get a band 6 in Advanced anyway (not too hard I think). Of course, the scaling is technically the same. But statistics tell us that very few people get band 5 for standard, let alone band 6 (due to the AOS moderator). There are alot of people in the state doing standard and even though it's a 2nd tier course, there's bound to be a few capable ones.
