!!! my assessment (due in 2 weeks) is on Dystopia too - Fahrenheit 451 & a French film - Delicatessen. I liked FahrenheitI don't why people dislike Fahrenheit 451, i found it quite intriguing as the issues can he predicted are occuring today; censorship, decline in literature/increase in technology (look @ the ipod or internet craze), decline in literacy rates (theres figures somewhere).
Can also look at as a criticism of 1950s early years of cold war / mccarthyism.
Aha, i don't really think i can really help, maybe a modern history student can help more :L. I'd say focus on your prescribed text if you have one or other than maybe look into communist/socialist ideas but i'm not that sure.!!! my assessment (due in 2 weeks) is on Dystopia too - Fahrenheit 451 & a French film - Delicatessen. I suppose mine is more analysis based. Its a hefty question, as we have to refer to Nazism in the 1930's and 40's, McCarthyism in the USA in the 1950's (mainly for Bradbury's context) and urban decay in the 1990's (for Delicatessen!),
also while using the philosophical frameworks of "Allegory of the Cave" by Plato and the social contract theories.
And it's in class, so everyones freaking out
I've asked my class mates, some say focus on social contract theory and Nazism and McCarthyism, some say Allegory of the Cave. Any help would be greatly appreciated, I need more evidence of McCarthyism ! Don't know a lot about it but you seem smart![]()
