enrolling into courses?? (1 Viewer)

i have just accepted my bachelor of commerce offer and have enrolled into

accounting and financial mgt A, microeconomics 1, and quantative methods A.

Is this all i need to do for the first semester?
How do i choose option courses/electives /general education , do i have to for the fist semester??
And when do i specify which majors i have to do??

normally u would do an additional course, this additional course depends on wat major u wanna do

so like if u wanna do fins then u do like the first year fins subject

if marketing...u do the first year marketing subject

however if u want to major in acct maybe do a subject which u need to get ur cpa/ca...eg legt1711 or fins1613

not sure where u r...maybe its different this year...but i remember doin everythin thru myunsw

u had to add a course

and then select the lecture and tutorial times and then u click enroll

I'm in the same position as you..I want to major in Finance but the search gives me only ACCT1501 (Accounting and Financial Management 1A), ACCT 15119 (Accounting and Financial Management 1 B), ECON1101(Microeconomics A), ECON1102 (Macroeconomics B), ECON1202(Quantitative Methods A) and ECON1203 9Quantitative Methods B).

the first finance elective is FINS1612 i.e. core fins introductory subject, just search by catalogue in my.unsw under finance and it's the first one on the list.

taxation comes under Business Law and Taxation school the first course u would have to do if u were gonna major in this is

LEGT1711 Legal Environment of Commerce

funny enough its also a course which u have to do if u wanna get ur CA

four courses a semester...doesnt HAVE to be core courses but for first year its better off completing the core subjects since they are piss easy compared to what's about to hit you later on.

Another Question..
For enrolling the first semester the commerce degree, do you just enroll the Courses with A only??

generally the first number after the letters for the subject indicates wat stage(year) it should be taken in

eg ACCT1501 is a first year course

but i suggest that u go to the handbook

and look up wateva course ur interested in and look at the Enrolment Requirements (Prerequisites), if the course doesnt have nethin then you can enroll in it

Let me rephrase my question
For Semester 1 do well enroll the courses below mentioned or only ACCT1501, ECON1101, ECON1202??

coz if u look up ACCT1511 (accounting 1b) it says that u have to do ACCT1501 (accounting 1a)

so u r rite...for S1 the core courses u do are the ones with the 'A'

Im only doing part-time study (as i have a cadetship) and therefore only have to choose 2 core courses for sem1. Does anyone have any opinions on which ones i should do? I read in another thread that QMA is one of the hardest courses that you will do during the com degree???

leski - Are there other lecture and tutorial times for that particular subject that clashes?

marao - do ACCT1501 and QMA (ECON1202), as those subjects might better help you with your cadetship
