union fee is like 185 bucks

$189 for full time PER SEMESTER
$128 for part time PER SEMESTER.

this money usually goes to the union and helps fund the clubs and societies.

So does that mean we still have to pay extra for joining clubs and societies? I mean if I wanted to join the badminton club and get some exercise, do I have to pay a membership fee? Will there be at least sommme discount?

joining SAM is compulsory, and is part of your student fees.

Other clubs and societies such as tennis club, chinese society etc..usually attract a $5 membership fee or there about.

i was reading the enrolment book last night and they tell you the break up of the fees. $20 goes to the clubs i think, and then some to the sports and some somewhere else

I already know one club I'm joining, that is if they have it (the anime club).

i'd say you find out what clubs then have during o-week!! thats when there will be club stalls and you just go up and join!!

check the union site for your uni (for example, newcastle www.unu.org.au) and they should have a list of clubs there. Alena, newcastle has an anime club, im presuming most would nowadays
