well , how do i change the session dates???
thanx...also can i do both my electives in semester 1 n then the remaining compulsory subjects in semester 2??

what session dates?
a session is a semester. you want to change what dates the semester start and finish? why? and no you can't change session/semester dates.

yes you are meant to organise your timetable so that it follows the uni timetable. so econ1001 is in semester 1, and econ1002 is in semester 2. it tells you in the handbook what session/semester each unit of study. so all you do if find out what your core units are, find out what session/semester they are being offered in, then slot them in there. and for your electives all you do is put them in the semester where your not at 24cp (assuming you are doing a full time course load!)...
