hi i was wondering what are the requirements for entry into homours.

i was told credit average? will u get invited to do honours or u have to apply?

It's different for every university and some degrees. Look up the entry requirements on your universities website.

I also think that is depends on available spots. so if there are eg, 3 honour spots and 4 people apply, the person with the lowest average score misses out, even if they had a distinction average

credit average may be a general guideline, but in some years it may not be enough

There are a number of reasons why students might score a place in honours or get knocked back. It depends on whether there are enough supervisors, enough facilities, enough available projects, whether there is enough funding (although that's another convoluted explanation involved in that), how many number of applicants there are in any given year, and the calibre of students in any given year etc.
