equalibrium: how many moles of carbon dioxide in 50ml of soda water? (1 Viewer)

This must be a really simple question for all of you.

-how many moles of carbon dioxide in 50ml of soda water?

how do i do this? since it's in ml and not in grams i'm kinda stuck now..lol
do i have to convert the ml to grams? or whatnot.
it dosen't give you the concentration and it dosen't ask for molarity.

You've got the idea of converting ml to g, it's simply 1ml = 1g or 1L = 1kg. Then use n=m/M to find number of moles.

actualy i have no idea- don't listen to me, im stupid

n=m/M
MWCO2=(12.01*2(16.00))g/mole=44.01g/mole
n=50/44.01
=1.14mole

That's what i did at first, but when i got the answer 1.14mole i thought it was really big (since most of the answers for questions like this is like 0.03-whatnot moles).
So that's the right answer then? because i don't have an answer for it..., (it's a question from a pratical we have to right up...)

Doesn't have to be so small, can be big or small depends on the question obviously :p Yep it should be right though

You need to know the weight loss of the soda-water sample before you can calculate the answer.

Its a prac, so the results are relevent.

here's the full question

1- A student decided to decarbonate a soft drink by tirating 50mL soda water with a 0.1M solution of sodium hydroxide solution. The student recorded that 23.5mL of sodium hydroxied was needed to cause a faint pink colour change of an indicator.

a. calculate the number of moles of carbon dioxide present in a sample.

moles NaOH= conc x vol
= 0.1M x 0.0235L
=0.00235

Neutralisation Rxn (abbreviated):
2NaOH + CO2 -> Na2CO3 + H2O

So moles CO2 in sample= 0.00235/2
= 0.001175
