zinc metal can be formed by exctracting it from its ore. the first step in this exctraction process, is to roast the sulfide ore in the air
2 ZnS + 3 O2 2 ZnO + 2 SO2

300 Kg of zinc sulfide is roasted with air

what is the volume of sulfur dioxide released into the atmosphere at 101.3 Kpa and 298 K?

CAN SOMEONE PLEASE SHOW ME THE WORKING OUT OF THIS ANSWER.

molar mass of ZnS: [EDIT] 97g

number of moles of ZnS in 300kg = 300000/97

1 mol ZnS : 1 mol SO2

S.L.C. therefor each mol of gas occupies 24.47 L

volume of SO2 = 300000/97 * 24.47
= approx 75,680 L

65+32 = 97 :D
having said that, the answer is actually closer to 75.29 kL [edit: mistakes shit on me sideways:D] (using masses 32.1 and 65.4 and 24.47L/mol @rtp)

yeah shit. stupid mistakes always kills me...

but it cant b 74 L or so coz there are 300kg of ZnS, which means there are over 3000 moles not 3 mol of SO2
