First of all, in 1) you don't have the function concerned...lol

2)
i) Find g(0.7) and g(0.9) and they should have opposite signs. Since g(x) is continuous in 0.7 < x < 0.9 then it should cross the x-axis at some point.

ii) It wasn't specified how many times you halve the interval, so I guess you first find g(0.8) and determine whether the sign change occurs between 0.7 and 0.8 or 0.8 and 0.9 and repeat this until you can narrow down whether it is 0.7, 0.8 or 0.9 to 1 decimal place.

i can and i have done them, there of the past hsc therefore i don't have answers, how am i meant to know if i'm doing them right? so i'm asking around to get different sets of answers.

maybe u should get more famliar/confident with questions from a text book, then tackle the past HSC's
