my ethernet port doesnt work

how can i make it work?

there could be a few problem
either ur cable is screwed
or your network card is screwed


but of course, there are endless possibilities, so tell us the whole scenario

im using network card, connecting to my cable modem

it works using USB but not ethernet, but i need it to use ethernet to connect to my network

my network card works, but my computer doesnt detect it i think

the pc/activity light still blinks with the ethernet plugged in, just that im not receiving any data

you mean your computer doen't find your cable modem?

you need to look up the manual of the modem to see what ip addresses you should use. or if you can use DCHP

no its my ethernet...

it works...well i dont know what you call "work" but it's just that my comp hasnt detected it yet?

Go to My Computer then My Network Places (Under "Other Places") and then View Network Connections (Under "Network Tasks"):).

can you please print screen and show

the screen ppl want to see is the 'Network Connections' under Control Panel.

yeah the ethernet should be under network adapters?

it only has my modem under "network adapters"

tried taking the card out,
blow some magic dust on it,
place it back in.

sometimes that helps.
