Exact trig ratios Table ..Easy way? (1 Viewer)

yo a mate taught me an easy way to remember the exact trig ratio 'table' unfortunately i didnt listen well enuf to remember ..anyone know it?

I remember the triangles.

if i cant remeber one, i type it into the calculator, then square it.

ie for sin45:

sin(45) = .070710......
sin^2(45) = 1/2
Therefore sin45 = 1/sqrt2

if the trig ratiio is negative you just have to remember to the put the negative back after you square it.

Sorta do the same thing. I type in the value into my calulator and i get a number. I know the basic numbers in the table like root3 /2 and so forth, so trial and error with those random expressions in the table until i get the same value i originally got.

And if you forget the values of the first triangle, just draw an equilateral triangle with sides of 2, and cut it down the middle perpendicular to the base, which makes the base 1, and according to pythagorus theorm the other side is aoutomatically root3.

sin45=1/root2
cos45=1/root2
tan45=1

sin30=0.5
cos30=root3/2
tan30=1/root3

sin60=root3/2
cos60=0.5
tan60=root3

the triangles are easily the best.

and then use the whole ASTC circle.

look at attachment if you're confused.
just remember the three diagrams and you're set. write them at the beginning of the exam if you need to, or alternatively, do what my friend does and write them on the table so you dont have to keep flipping pages.

ps. i know im crap at photoshop. leave me alone.

pps. i just remember i left off the angles for the diagrams. but cmon people.. you can see the dif between 30 degrees and 60 degrees.

Be careful about what you type. cosec, sec and cot are the RECIPROCALS of sin, cos, tan respectively, not the inverse. sin, cos and tan have their own inverse function.

Be careful about what you type. cosec, sec and cot are the RECIPROCALS of sin, cos, tan respectively, not the inverse. sin, cos and tan have their own inverse function.

oh yeah wrong ... gotta get used to maths terminology ... when speaking of inverse as in sin^-1, tan^-1 and so on ?

theres an easy way to remember the trig ratios it goes like this:

you have the degrees 30 45 60
in the order of sin
cos
tan
1.first you write 1 then 2 then 3--so 1 in sin 30, 2 in sin 45 etc
2.then divide each number by 2, so its like 1/2, 2/2, 3/2
3. then you put a square root on the numerator.
there you go you have your trig ratios
for cos
same steps as above except
instead of the (1--2----3) step its backwards (3--2---1)
and then you divide by 2 then root the stop and so on..

so basically sin it goes 1,2,3 and cos is 3,2,1

but for tan this method doesnt apply just remember like
tan 45=1 like easy to remember
and tan 30 is 1/root 3 and tan 60 is root 3 dont get them mixed up...basically double check with your calculator

so when I type cos 30 it equals 0.866 .... I know cos 30 = √3/2 lol
